Join us in Royse City on
Oct. 17 for RunFest at FunFest!
We hosted the first
RunFest 5k last year.
RunFest 5k, a Royse City
Chamber of Commerce-sponsored event, will continue to be an annual activity to
get the big FunFest celebration in downtown Royse City off to a running start.
This year's event will
be our "breakout" year.
Breakout?
Yep. It's being promoted
as a "Jailhouse Run."
The RunFest 5k will be a
run for a cause, and the cause this year
is to raise funds for
the city's old city jail, located under the water tower
in downtown Royse City.
Proceeds from the run will be used to restore the old jail because of its
historical significance.
Runners are encouraged
to dress up in jailhouse garb. Striped running gear, for example. Or run with a
ball and chain if you dare. Awards will be presented to runners with the best
"jailhouse" running costumes.
